Pereira is a Colombian municipality, capital of the department of Risaralda. It is the most populous city in the coffee axis region and the second most populous in the Paisa region, after Medellín; It forms the Metropolitan Area of the Central West along with the municipalities of Dosquebradas, La Virginia. It is located in the central-western region of the country, in the valley of the Otún River in the Central Cordillera of the Colombian Andes.
As capital of the department of Risaralda, Pereira houses the headquarters of the Risaralda Governorate, the Departmental Assembly, the Departmental Court, the Metropolitan Area and the Attorney General's Office. Public companies and institutions and organizations of the Colombian state also settle there. For being in the center of the Golden Triangle (Bogotá, Medellín and Cali), it has gained great relevance, especially in the field of commerce.
Pereira's climate ranges from the following points: warm weather, 9.9%; medium climate, 60.7%; cold weather, 11.5%; wasteland, 17.7%;
